Self-taught sculptor working in steel and concrete, bronze and ceramics. Steve work often combines nature and humanity, his larger scale work in concrete is based upon change over time.
At Shaw House he will be showing, 'Spores' is a sculpture based on a fallen mushroom where Steve has buried Pink Oyster mushroom spored into the concrete. Another piece is 'The Ovary' which is based on a pumpkin, where pumpkin seeds are contained within the sculpture. The sculpture is designed to break down over the next 1,000 years where the seeds could possibly still germinate.
Perhaps on Earth, humanity will no longer exist, however nature will always prevail.
The answers to humanity's difficulties are all here on earth, it's just a question of realising how we need to adapt.
Steve has exhibited at The Monat Gallery, in Madrid and galleries and art shows in Rome and Venice. A solo show of his bronze figures was in September 2021 at The Brick Lane Gallery.
