Martin Cash
I work as a full-time Sculptor based in the Cotswolds - designing and creating unique art forms that usually start from my sketch pad, are developed into a 3d image then printed as a 3d maquette.
Once I have created an artistic form and selected appropriate stone I work through the reductive techniques employing the craftsmanship and traditions that have developed over millennia. This uses the heft, texture, colour and hardness of British stone with each piece going through the reductive process of sawing, chiseling, grinding and polishing aiming to create thought-provoking forms. I hope these works evoke emotion and thought by transforming stone into a medium for storytelling and commentary: themes are usually triggered by environmental consciousness, human resilience and the passage of time. Always I am aiming to create movement in the stone that invites touch, interaction and contemplation.
By carving sculptural forms I aspire to create beautiful unique investments that will last for generations: the uniqueness of an artwork adds to its aura and carries millions of years of history. More recently my work has evolved to include bronze and the development of some modern media pieces.
Whilst many of my works are commissioned by private collectors, I continue to create pieces that can be displayed and sold in galleries and sculpture parks and as my work has become more well known l find I'm increasingly focussed on commissions; please use my contact page to email me for a discussion.
