'Originally having studied fashion design, I returned to full time education to study Ceramics. It was during my time on the degree course that my direction changed from making vessels into becoming ever more figurative, being influenced by the female form and I started to draw inspiration from the fashion world. The way fabric and drapery created new shapes, the soft folds of silk lying on the body and its constantly changing appearance with the body's movement. The work has continued to evolve and developed more figuratively, becoming increasingly fascinated with the depiction of the female body. Trying to make my work more emotive, capturing the modern idiom, whilst preserving the values of classical figurative sculpture. Ultimately my work revolves around depicting the female form and looking at its sensuality and inherent beauty.' Originally working in porcelain the work has increased in scale to include life size work made in ceramic and bronze.
