Allan Mackenzie

Allan’s latest collection reflects human expression observed in activities of the everyday.
His work represents the commitment required to maintain areas of life, the people who live these lives and the satisfaction to be gained from life’s work.
Adding a little humour and exaggerated drama brings his figures to life as they sit above the garden plants keeping a watchful eye over all things that grow.
From Allan’s studio in East Sussex he creates sculpture in a full range of mediums including cold cast metals, stone resins and Jesmonite stone. Allan enjoys every aspect of the creative process including mould making, casting and finishing. The final piece made up of a number of smaller elements either mounted together or added to form the overall picture. The sculptures are generally mounted on copper tube to allow them to be seen above the plants in the garden.
Originally trained in graphic and commercial art, Allan then entered the world of sculpture full time after a career in Construction. His work is exhibited with the Royal Horticultural Society, The National Trust, The Crown Estate including galleries and sculpture exhibitions in the south and south west of England.
Commissions include reproducing balcony railings for a listed building on Brighton seafront and full size reconstituted stone Japanese lanterns.
Commissions are always most welcome, be it a variation of an existing sculpture or a completely new visual concept.
